The Vashon Island School District is excited to announce the hiring of a second family engagement coordinator, thanks to the generous support of the community through the Vashon Schools Foundation.

Nidia Sahagun, the family engagement coordinator at Vashon Island School District, was recently named the recipient of the annual Doors of Opportunity Award.

Vashon High School (VHS) teacher Heather Miller has been named the 2025 Washington History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
