The Vashon Island School District Board of Directors is searching for the next superintendent for Vashon Island School District (VISD).

This page will be used to share the Board’s process for selecting the next superintendent, including information for candidates, engagement opportunities for all stakeholders in the VISD community, and updates on the selection process.

The VISD Board of Directors retained the executive search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to conduct a national search for the next superintendent.

UPDATE: On December 18, 2025, the VISD Board of Directors announced it was suspending the search and voted to extend interim Dr. Jo Moccia’s contract into the 2026-27 school year. VISD’s superintendent search will pick back up in Fall 2026 to find a new permanent superintendent for the 2027-28 school year.
