Jackie Merrill, the ever-present office manager at Vashon Island High School, accepted the Doors of Opportunity Award to begin the school year. The Doors of Opportunity Award goes to a VISD staff member who best exemplifies someone who goes beyond their job description to open doors and maximize students' potential.

We are thrilled to see over 100 of our middle schoolers participating in our fall sports programs, including cross-county and volleyball.
There will be more opportunities for McMurray students to build connections and develop a sense of belonging in the community at the upcoming Club Fair on Friday, October 2.

Every Wednesday morning, students at Chautauqua enter the building with the rich sounds of island musicians echoing the hallways. Do you play an instrument? We'd love to host you!

In anticipation of the International Day of Peace, students and staff at Chautauqua Elementary held their annual Pinwheels for Peace Assembly on Friday, September 18.
This year’s theme is Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day. Students were reminded that peace is not built only by world leaders; each of us can be an “everyday architect of peace” through the choices we make and the way we treat others.

On Thursday, September 24, beginning at 6:00 p.m., the VISD Board of Directors will hold a Regular Board Meeting. The meeting will be held in person at the District Office Conference Room #302, on the third floor of Chautauqua Elementary, 9309 SW Cemetery Rd. Click here to view the agenda.
