Our 5th graders had an amazing experience at Camp Sealth this year! A heartfelt thank you to Alex Craighead, Duncan Endava, the One Village team, our VHS mentors, Camp Sealth staff, and our 5th grade teachers, who all helped make this such a meaningful and memorable experience for our students.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Vashon Schools Foundation for helping subsidize camp costs so that all students could attend, regardless of financial circumstances. Their support helped ensure that every 5th grader had the opportunity to participate in this important experience of learning, growth, connection, and belonging.

On Friday June 5, 16 artists presented workshops for the entire student community at McMurray Middle School. Thanks to VCA's Artists in Schools program, this Be Curious Day of Art was an invitation and an opportunity for students to try something new, to be curious, and to get creative. From creating vision board collages to weaving mandalas. From dancing or drumming to working with beeswax. From creating sculptures to using shadow puppets to tell the stories of the stars. From theatre improv to making punk patches. From painting in the classroom to painting in the forest. Students were excited, engaged, and sharing their creations with each other as they ran out of the school to catch their buses. The students who made drums out of five gallon buckets could hardly contain their excitement barely resisting the urge to drum out their new rhythms until they could get outside. A special gratitude for the Vashon Schools Foundation and PIE for contributing to the funding to make a day like this possible.

The Vashon Island School District is gathering community feedback to help inform long-range facilities planning and potential future capital improvement projects.
We would like to ask for a few minutes of your time to help inform that work. This survey is intended to collect community input only. No decisions have been made regarding a future bond measure, project list, or funding amount. Responses will help the District better understand community priorities, concerns, and preferred communication methods.

VARSA is currently running its biannual community survey and would like to encourage all parents/guardians/caregivers, community members, and school staff to complete it. The data is used in conjunction with Healthy Youth Survey results to gain a bigger picture on how best to support island families.
