7th Graders Experience Hands-on Lab at Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center

A group of 7th graders recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center. During this immersive field experience, students engaged in a hands-on gel electrophoresis lab in a real, working laboratory, using the same tools and techniques as professional scientists. They also toured the facility, heard from a range of research scientists, and had the unique opportunity to observe active labs in action. This experience brought their classroom studies to life and offered an inspiring glimpse into the world of scientific research.

FamilyLink students kicked off spring workshops with an all-school visit to the Vashon Heritage Museum. Students were guided by the museum's friendly volunteer docents through the various exhibits and enjoyed the numerous hands-on features, including the large interactive digital map display.
