Did you know that nearly one in seven families on Vashon Island rely on food from the Vashon Food Bank? With all of the upheaval around SNAP benefits at the federal level, consider making a donation to the VHS Canned Food Drive.

Last week, middle school students at FamilyLink applied their critical thinking skills during their short story presentations--students demonstrated a mastery of annotation, textual evidence, and analysis as they presented to their peers.

The Vashon High School Outdoor Adventure Club had an incredible opportunity made possible by funding from PIE through a Robin Appleford Enrichment Fund Grant. Fifteen club members completed six hours of online course work followed by 16 hours of hands-on training with Backcountry Medical Guides, culminating in all 15 being certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and EpiPen administration! Students had two incredible days together learning and then practicing wilderness emergency scenarios.
Our students had a great time while also understanding the intensity and seriousness of the content and the potential for using what they were learning in real-world scenarios. This training not only benefits the students and the club, but potentially anyone in the outdoors who might need their help.

With the start of winter brings the threat of inclement weather school delays or closure. As a reminder of general policy, VISD operates on a 1.5-hour late start (Friday schedule) or no school.
All delay or closure notices will be made as early as possible and will be communicated to families via ParentSquare.
