Kare Barich has lived in Washington all her life, and is proud to call Vashon Island her home.  She has been a teacher for almost 20 years. Kare's experience prior to her time at Chautauqua Elementary includes being a 5th and 6th grade highly capable educator in the Shoreline School District for thirteen years; one year of that time was spent as a teacher specialist and liaison to her peers in the district. Kare's teaching philosophy incorporates elements from many disciplines, and she believes in educating the whole child to become an engaged member of not only the school community but the community at large. She lives on Vashon with her husband of 30 years, has two daughters, two cats, and a spirited Corgi.
