• Who We Are

Chautauqua Elementary School opened in September, 1994 to merge Burton Elementary and Vashon Elementary staff and students, thus completing the Vashon Island School District "central campus". This year, over 80 staff members and 550 students, ranging from Preschool through 5th grade, enjoy our building and roughly 100 acres of fields, trails, and woods.

Chautauqua Elementary begins its school day at 9:15 am. The building opens for students with the first bell at 9:15 am. The Tardy bell rings at 9:25 am. Students arriving after the second bell at 9:25 am are considered tardy and must check in to the main office prior to heading to class.

Dismissal begins at 3:50 pm and the school day officially ends at 4:05 pm when the school buses depart. Parents picking their students up will go through FastLane.

We will have Late Arrival Friday, EVERY week, when school will start at 10:45 am and the tardy bell at 10:55 am.  Dismissal will follow the regular schedule.  This allows the District to provide Professional Development time for our teachers and staff.
