2022 Levy

  • In February 2022, Vashon Island residents will be asked to vote on a levy that renews critical funding for educational programs and services all Vashon Island School District students engage with.

  • It is important to note that the 2022 levy is not a new tax. It renews an expiring tax that provides local funding for critical programs, services, and needs that are not coered by state and federal dollars. Because the current levy comprises approximately 15 percent of VISD's current budget, a failure to enact the levy would mean significant and painful reductions and cuts to our faculty, programs, and services for students.

    • The proposed tax rate is $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, starting in 2023 and ending in 2026.

The proposed levy would allow the district to collect approximately $25 million over the course of four years.
