I am excited to be entering my seventhyear here at VHS, and anticipating another wonderful adventure as I get to know more about the community that I have chosen.
I recieved my undergradute degree from Lewis & Clark College in 1995 in Hispanic Studies, and then spent years discovering a passion for social responsibility in a variety of work settings until circling back to my love for the Spanish speaking world. I recieved my Masters in Teaching from Southern Oregon University in 2010, and spent a few years seraching the for the right fit, which I found in Vashon in 2013.
I have had the opportinutiy to do quite a lot of traveling, and hope to bring my enthusiasm for other cultures to the classroom, as well as forster an environment where we are supportive of each other, take risks with the langauge, and strive to communicate in Spanish. I beleive that all travel is good travel, and hope to work with others to create an ongoing exchange program for VHS students, but meanwhile work to provide opportunities for studnets to travel. This year I am planning a trip to Puerto Rico for the community at large, and am organizing a school specific trip to Ecuador for 2021. So far I have traveld with VHS students to Costa Rica (twice), Cuba, Spain, and Perú.
I spend my free time reading, and exploring with my dog, Gracie Lou.
