  • Neighborcare Health has opened a school-based health center at Vashon Island High School, thanks to a grant through King County Best Starts for Kids. The school-based health center is currently housed in a temporary space with the school’s administrative team. The permanent space is currently in the permitting phase of construction.

The school-based health center provides a full-range of comprehensive health care, in alignment with national guidelines, as well as Washington State law. At no cost to families, students will have access to medical services, mental health counseling, and dental care. The school-based health center’s permanent space will be in a remodeled classroom near the band room at VHS. The school-based health center is open to all students enrolled in the Vashon Island School District and open throughout the school year with appointment hours available before, during and after school Monday through Friday.

A grant from Best Starts for Kids will cover the majority of the school-based health center operations and a portion of the construction costs for the new school-based health center; with the exception of utilities, VISD carries no expenses to maintain the clinic.
