My island teaching career began in 2007 at Chautauqua Elementary School, where I taught second grade, art, and kindergarten for four years. Before moving to the island, I taught French and Language Arts at Garfield High School in Seattle. I also worked with the Children's Literacy Project at Seattle U., and as a student teacher supervisor at the University of Washington School of Education.
