Letter to Families Introducing the Scholastic Book Club Orders

    Monday, September 30, 2019

    Dear Families,

Today, I sent home our first Scholastic Book Club flyers with your student.  I decided to send home both the September and October books orders (for more selection).  I am excited that there is such a wide variety of great books at a very low cost.  Every month, at least one book is offered for $1 or $2.  In addition to inexpensive books, Scholastic gives our classroom bonus point for each dollar spent and free books with every order.  I am able to use the bonus points to buy books for our classroom library. I also encourage students to look through the book orders to look for books they are interested in reading, and I urge them to add these titles to their Reading Lists.  Reading Lists are kept in the back of students' Writer's/Reader's Notebooks.  This is a place to keep a running list of books they want to read.  The hope is that they never run out of books that they are looking forward to reading.  Books that students find in the book club flyers can almost always be found to check-out for free from our classroom library, school library, or public library.

If you would like to place an order, you can do so online by going to the following link: (https://orders.scholastic.com/RD6XN).  Our classroom code is: RD6XN.  You can also place an order by sending cash or check (checks made out to Scholastic Book Clubs), along with the order form, to school with your student by Tuesday, October 8.  Orders should be received in about two weeks.

For each student’s birthday or half-birthday this year, she/he will be receiving a gift certificate from me that allows them to choose one free book from our book club order that is worth $5 or less!  Thanks for your support!

    Sincerely,

    Patty Gregorich
