• Student Placement Process

     In early August your teacher placement information is available in Skyward Family Access.  All families should have already received an email letting them know how to set up new password to log in if they have never done that before.  For families without any internet access, please contact our office and we will respond to you as soon as possible.

    Once logged in to Skyward Family Access and on your selected student, you can find the teacher information under the Schedule tab located on the left sidebar. If you see that the “schedule” is blank, your child has not yet been placed and we are working on that and will get you teacher information by mid-August. If you are in grades 1-3 and your teacher is: Glenda Berliner, Ashley Christophersen, or Aristy Gill you have been enrolled in the multi-age program. If you are in grades 1-3 and do not have one of those three teachers, you are in a straight grade class.

    Appeals

    Your child’s teacher from last year and our placement team worked diligently to make thoughtful placement decisions completed with great integrity.  It is our sincere desire to be as proactive as possible in providing a process that is fair and balanced. However, we recognize that sometimes there are oversights. In that event, an appeal can be made by following the steps below.

    • Step 1 : Submit an appeal in writing no later than Wednesday, August 14th. To ensure receipt, please email Rebecca Goertzel your appeal. All email appeals will receive a receipt confirmation. If a confirmation email is not received by August 14th, please re-submit. Again, this must be turned in on time for consideration. (Please note that this written document will be shared with the assigned teacher as part of the process.) In your written statement please be clear and specific regarding the rationale for the appeal.
    • Step 2 : The principal will review all placement records and documentation as part of the decision. Furthermore, we will use the same placement criteria from the initial process as part of the appeal process (balance of various factors and class size). You will be notified of the final decision by Friday, August 19th. This decision will be a final determination for placement for the 2019-20 school year.
