I began my teaching career in 1987 at Lake Washington High School, where I taught a variety of English classes on a one-year contract. The following nine years,  I taught freshman English, sophomore English, and journalism at Vashon Island High School, during which time I earned a Learning Resources endorsement. I first worked as a teacher-librarian at Highline High School, where I spent five years. When the McMurray Library position opened in 2003, I was delighted to return to Vashon schools as the teacher-librarian at the middle school. This is my nineteenth year as the teacher-librarian at McMurray and my 34th year as an educator.
