Sorry for the delay gentlemen. It's taking me longer than I thought to go through the script and the music to make the final casting decisions. Not sure when I'll be done. Check back around 9:30-10:00PM for an update.
The musical chosen for this spring is Sister Act. Performances will take place in early May.
This is our upcoming original musical, written and directed by Hannah Fellbaum, composed and musical direction by Kate Atwell. This is a spectacular achievement for these young women. The production is totally student-driven. The producer, set designer, technical director, and stage manager are students. Lighting, set construction, and costuming are now in the final stages of work, and all those jobs are being done by students. I hope you'll be able to see this, and that we will continue to produce original work here at the high school.
It's an exciting year for VHS Theatre Arts. The fall production of Speech & Debate by Stephen Karam was superbly acted by Joy Ghigleri, Jevne Meyers, Xavier Ajeto, and Miles Wingett. The spring semester has just started and we are currently in auditions for our musical, Anything Goes. Students are also producing an orginal musical this year, written by Hannah Fellbaum and composed by Kate Atwell, two extraordinarily talented young women who--not content to rest on their laurels and cruise to an easy graduation--have taken on this challenge. Hannah has been writing and re-writing the script over the past 2-3 years, casting is complete, and rehearsals started this week. Performances will be in March. More information coming soon.
