Sigler found her passion early. She began playing soccer at the age of four. She played all throughout elementary school, middle school, and on into high school. She left her friends on The Strikers, an Island team, after playing with them for four years to play for an off Island premiere team, West Sound FC, where she played for another four years. She is now captain of the girl’s varsity soccer team at VHS as well as a forward player for Washington Premiere, another off Island team.
Sigler recently committed to Portland State University. This means that as long as her grades stay up, she will be receiving an education as well as playing soccer there. Sigler knew she wanted to play soccer at a college level since she was young.
“I’ve always wanted to play soccer past high school. When I was really little, I thought more about being on the Olympic team than playing in college, but as I got older the thought of playing in college became the more realistic choice,” said Sigler.
Her recruiting process began freshman year, when she spent a lot of time looking at colleges she’d be interested in attending and playing soccer for, and colleges that would be interested in her. Sophomore year she began to write letters to these schools and take campus tours. Junior year she narrowed it down to just a few colleges, and talked to their coaches, then finally landed on Portland State.
“I am so excited about playing college soccer, especially D1 soccer. I love playing at a competitive level and this is the next step,” said Sigler.
Sigler will be receiving a partial scholarship from the university, so her education will be partially covered while she continues to explore her passion.
