Every other year during spring break, students from VHS travel to Japan to experience the culture and to interact with students from Himeji Minami High School. This year, to help with the cost of the trip, the Japanese club is holding a book sale fund raiser. A portion of the money raised will go towards providing scholarships for those going on the trip, but some of the money will go towards funding activities for the club.
“It’s nice that the club is going to be able to offer more activities,” said sophomore Autumn Clark.
In the past, events like the book sale have helped pay for club activities such as sushi lunches and karaoke parties. The club is also planning other fund raisers for the future.
“We were thinking of a movie night. We’ve talked about doing some sort of sushi lunch as a fund raiser, and some other ideas,” said Japanese teacher, and club advisor Sensei Williams.
