ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dear StudentLink Students and Parents,

What fun it is to gather together and begin a new year of learning!

  • All students, both RETURNING and NEW, will attend Orientation on Wednesday, September 1 from 11-1:00.  During this day, we will all meet in order to get to know each other and to discuss just what StudentLink is (for it changes from year to year).  We’ll explore what our individual aspirations are for the year and look collectively at what we need to do to keep our program running smoothly.

  • Thursday, September 2 from 2:50-4:30 all NEW students will meet to begin the great design of your first StudentLink set of coursework!  Be sure to bring ideas, activities you’ve completed over the summer, and any writing/recording materials that might help you get your ideas on paper.

  • Friday, September 3 from 2:50-4:30 all RETURNING students will meet to take stock of what was completed over the summer and to plan for this year.  We will be sure to review the successes of last year as well as the changes each one of us wants to make in order to make this year even more effective!

For those attending Running Start: please plan to come to Wednesday’s orientation.  You are welcome to join us on Friday as well, but it is not a requirement.

The week of September 7 will be the start of our regularly scheduled weekly meetings.  I will be available to meet with each of you for 45 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9-1:30.  Please be sure to arrive at our orientation meeting on Wednesday, September 1 with several meeting times that would work for you – be sure to consider transportation requirements.  If you registered for a class at VHS, we will be sure to contact you prior to September 1st so that you will know what your class schedule is (please do not contact the VHS office).

I look forward to seeing all of you on Wednesday, September 1st!  Be sure to arrive on time with something to munch on and many learning ideas to share!

Sincerely,

Nan

PS.  Between August 24-27, please contact Janet at 463-9171, ext 503 if you have a conflict with any of these days.  After that, please call Nan at ext 504.  Unless we hear from you, we will expect to see you on September 1 at 11am.

PICTURE DAY

All StudentLink students should arrange to have their pictures taken during VHS Picture Day on Wednesday, September 8, in order to receive a Vashon Island School District ID Card.  Please be sure to let the photographer know that you want your ID card to say “VISD” instead of VHS.  Order forms will be available at StudentLink or in the VHS office or library. Photo retakes will be held on October 28.
