Some Background Information About School Funding
Each year, we see public-school funding diminish more in response to a lagging economy and state and federal budget cuts. Will this continue? These two presentations:
a Washington State Economic Forecast published in February 2011 and
an explanation of school funding by Monte Bridges, former VISD superintendent and current superintendent of the Puget Sound Educational Services District (PSESD) and Steve Nielsen, PSESD superintendent for financial services outline the level of funding public schools can expect over the next few years and how educational reform is making a difference. VISD will continue to post information about school finances and fundraising to meet the budget gap as we learn more.
