The Vashon Island School District seeks citizens to volunteer to serve on "pro" and "con" statement committees for the April 25th election voters pamphlet.  The district is proposing a ballot initiative for a $9,997,500 bond to improve district facilities.  If you wish to serve on one of these committees, please contact Jodi Burwell, Board Secretary, jburwell@vashonsd.org no later than Friday, February 17, 2017.

Community Events: Tentative Facilities Bond


In the coming weeks, the Vashon Island School District Board of Directors will hold a number of community events about proposed facility improvements that would appear on a bond tentatively scheduled for April 25th. Upgrades under consideration include a new track and field for Vashon Island High School, a new Facilities Maintenance building, and various other projects on our school campuses.

 

The public is encouraged to drop by one of these events to ask questions and interact directly with board members who will be considering input for the bond proposal. Board members will have handouts with detailed information about options and improvements.

 

Events are scheduled as follows:

 

Community Q & A: Saturday, January 7th outside of Granny’s and IGA Market from 11am to 2pm.

 

Community Q & A: Saturday, January 14th outside of Thriftway from 11am to 2pm.

 

Community Meeting: Thursday, January 19th at Chautauqua Elementary Conference Room from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

 

Community Meeting: Saturday, January 21st at Vashon Island King County Public Library beginning at 10am.
